  16. How come no one came up with my favorite breakfast? Steamed red potato, carrot, green beans, kale, broccoli, mushroom, onion and zucchini. Throw them into the same steamer in that sequence, a minute or two apart. When just crunchy tender, dump them out onto a cutting board to cool (don't rinse). Arrange a little pile of each in a bowl, put two spoonfuls of some canned beans in the center, and drizzle the whole thing with just a touch of olive oil and vinegar. Pour the cooking liquid in a cup as its an excellent vegetable broth (or tea). Refrigerate the extras for the evening meal. I know this sounds like a big deal but it doesn't take any longer to cook than oatmeal. (However I do seek the comfort of oatmeal & berries once and a while, especially in the winter.) But it seems that this doesn't have the sugar load that some of their recommendations did with 4 or 5 kinds of fruit.
