✿ Veganlovlie Recipes / Tofu Curry With Vegetables – Vegan : This week Kevin is back for another one of his delicious curries. ✿ FULL PRINTABLE RECIPE ▶ http://www.veganlovlie.com/2015/06/braised-tofu-and-vegetable-curry.html

Kevin is using the braising cooking method which is a very common way of cooking, especially vegetables, in Mauritius where we saute them on high heat in a little fat first until they get a caramelised coating, then cover and simmer at a lower temperature until the vegetables are tender. Vegetables cooked in this way release a rich deep flavour into the cooking liquid.

By the way, if you are not a great fan of tofu because of the bland taste, then try preparing it the way Kevin did here in this curry, i.e. frying it first then adding it to the sauce. Tofu cooked in this way has a crispy outer layer contrasting with the pillowy tender centre and makes a most appealing texture that picks up flavours nicely.

  11. I so love this wonderful channel and all the recipes. For this novice vegan it is a welcome delight. I wanted to ask you, if one can still do the recipes but not fry anything with the oil, substituting with sauteing in vegetable stock as I can't digest anything that is fried.

  12. Hi Teenuja, thank you for this recipe, I really like tofu now & continue to add it to my cooking. I love it when you have different types of vegetable curry & noodle vegetable stir frys as well. Thank you for another delicious vegetable curry with tofu, just love it, but my favorite is still white bean curry with farrata. It's cold in Melbourne today & curry is the way to go. Thanks to Teenuja & Kevin. Please keep cooking Mauritanian food, I love it. Cheers

  13. Did you ever try to make this recipe without using THAT MUCH oil? I'd really try this one without the oil.

  14. what is the difference between curry powder and garam masala ? can I make the curry powder my self?

I generally do not peel the skins. But everyone's taste is different. Thank you for the demo, it is excellent.

  15. I have been watching all your videos and your food looks amazing! I'm going to try this recipe tonight. Also, I love that pan you're cooking in. May I ask the brand or type of pan. Thank you!

  16. love this. am glad I found your channel!

  17. This dish looks so amazing. I will be making it soon. My husband and I love curry with rice ♡♡

  18. Hmmm, we don't have Chayotes and fresh Curry Leaves where I live, can I replace them (aubergine or yellow zucchini) or leave them completely out (in case of the Chayote)?
Also, would it be hm… tasty to replace some of the water with coconut milk?

  19. It looks so delicious! I will try quickly. Merci
